My Education and experience

Prior to qualifying, as a therapist, I worked as carer and have direct experience with some of the frustration’s challenges and rewards of this important role. I attended college at 16 gaining qualifications as an auxiliary nurse. I worked in various nursing homes, hospitals, and hospices for numerous years. I have experience with ADHD and attended various courses concerning mental health. I also have life experience with addiction, and how frustrating and tough it can be for the individual in addiction and those around them. I have had to face many different challenges and therapy has helped me immensely. This has inspired me to train as a therapist and support individuals in facing their challenges. I have worked as a therapist for carers support West Sussex for the past 2 years. A non-judgemental space...

My philosophy is a belief that humans need a non-judgemental empathetic space to freely be themselves.

I will work with you to create a confidential space, where you will be able to explore and process your difficulties at your own pace. I practice from my cabin, in my garden. Most importantly I want you to feel you can talk about anything and not be judged. I work with anxiety, depression, addiction, relationships and stress, loss, low self-esteem, trauma. I work with adults and children from twelve years.  I am passionate about creating an environment to facilitate change, and I am aware how challenging it can be to find a therapist. I am an experienced person-centred therapist, and I also work creatively, dependant on what preferences you may have. I would be honoured to support you in whatever it is you might need to work through.

Testimonials

"Donna helped me put things in perspective and I feel I can now look forward to the future instead of back. Donna was genuine and I found her easy to talk to and she has a good sense of humour."

"Counselling has really helped me to face my emotions, acknowledge them, and ground myself until the bottled-up feelings have been made more manageable on a day-to-day basis.  With the down to Earth approach of such an excellent and caring counsellor (as Donna) I have finally been able to find peace of mind.   Panic attacks have reduced."

"Seeing my issues from an outside perspective, the situation became clearer for me as I was totally centred on my problems and couldn’t see the bigger picture.  My counsellor has been excellent, compassionate, and showing great perception on things that I couldn’t see myself."
